What's special about Gtechniq's fpr2 HotSwap Finishing Pad?
Made from the finest and softest grade of foam available this pad is designed to offer a flawless final polish stage.  For skilled detailers it's possible and easy to finish using this and p1 otherwise and especially for tricky to perfect paints such as non metallics finish using p2.  Our foam pads also have the following smart innovative features:

Pad Centring System:  Used in conjunction with HotSwap Backing Plate you can be sure to get the pad dead centre every time with no time wasting.  A properly centred pad will not only helps to achieve a better finish due to less pad vibration but it also helps to prevent Repetitive Strain Injury (RSI).

Concave Pad Surface:  This has two benefits.  The first is that being concave more of the pad will be in contact with the surface which not only means you will polish faster but it also means you have a more even pad contact resulting in less danger of swirls.  The second is you will get less fling as the polish is cupped inside the pad.  Traditionally concave polishing pads have not found favour as with old tech abrasive polishes they caused very high surface temperature.  This is not an issue if used with p1 or p2 as neither of these polishes generates significant surface temperature.

Large Diameter:  200mm to be precise.  This means speed!  It also means slightly more skill but don't be put off by this as the benefits seriously outweigh any drawbacks.  With a bit of practice you will be polishing even the smallest and trickiest parts with ease.  The only areas we find difficulty to polish with these pads are air scoops on mid engined exotica but these areas normally need to be hand polished anyway.

How to get the best from this product?
This pad is designed as the final step of paintwork correction prior to coating.  To achieve optimal results we recommend the following tips:

  • Use the pad as flat as possible.
  • Keep the pad clean!  Dirty pads can introduce marring and undo all the good work you have already made.
  • Use progressively less pressure and the lowest rpm on your rotary to finish.
